Welcome to the Berryessa Music Booster's web site. You may not be familiar with the name "Berryessa Music Boosters" but we have been around for more than 15 years and our sole aim is to raise money for the musically inclined youth enrolled in the school system of the Berryessa Union School District. You may be better acquainted with our other arm known as the Berryessa Art & Wine Festival. Both organizations are non-profit and chartered to raise money for the musical programs of the Berryessa Union School District.
The Berryessa Music Boosters, in conjunction with the annual Berryessa Art and Wine Festival, have finncially supported the Choral and Instrumental Music Programs in the elementary schools since 1992. Again this year, state funding has made the continuation of our music programs difficult. Your donation is a vital part of the district's ability to continue our outstanding music program. This year's requested donation for music instruction will be $120.00 per student (a change from past years). All donations are fully tax deductible. Please make checks payable to Berryessa Music Boosters, Inc.
We would like to invite your child to participate in the Instrumental or Choral music programs for students in the Berryessa Unon School District elementary schools. Stuents are enrolled in the music class for the entire school year, and are expected to progress "at level" with the music class. For third grade students, ONLY beginning violin instruction will be offered. Fourth and Fifth grade students will be offered instruction on the following instruments: violin, cello, string bass, flute, clarintet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and baritone. Intermediate and advanced instruction will be available for these instruments plus viola and oboe. For 4th and 5th graders, instruction for percussion is also offered. An information packet will be given to your child regarding music books, rental of instruments, and class schedules after your child is registered.
Instruments are to be provided by the parents/guardians. Instruments may be rented through local music stores. Additional information regarding instrument rentals is also available in the telephone book's yellow pages under "musical instruments". Our schools have a limited number of instruments to loan to music students on the basis of financial need. Students who register for violin, cello, or string bass will be measured to determine the correct size instrument. Please indicate on the Music Student Registration Form if you need to quest the suse of a school district instrument.
