Berryessa Music Boosters, Inc. officially became the holder of the 501-3C non-profit status in 1991, and their members joined the existing steering committee of the Berryessa Art & Wine Festival.
The funds gained for the music program from this collaboration were enough, when added to donations from the parents of the music students and other fundraising, to be able to pay the salary of one music teacher who covered all of the 10 elementary schools and offered instrumental music to any of the interested 4th and 5th graders for the 1992-93 school year. Profits from the Berryessa Art & Wine Festival continue to provide a significant portion of the funds necessary to maintain the music program in the Berryessa Union School District. Due to the continued success of the festival and dedicated support from the Berryessa community, the music program in the Berryessa school district has been greatly expanded and kept alive for all the sudents to participate in – even though the State of California has continued to inflict major cuts to the funds for the schools.
The steering committee meets monthly from October through May of each year to plan and prepare for the festival. Their meetings are open to visitors. They are held at the Berryessa Union School District Office at 5:30 PM on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. New volunteers are encouraged to join and assist however they can.
